Gastroscopy

We routinely do gastroscopy of horses that are suspected to have gastric ulcers ; this involves an endoscope being passed up a nostril and down into the stomach after being starved overnight.

Signs of ulceration can be anything from being grumpy when being tacked upĀ  to poor performance and even spooking or not loading. There are several treatments now so actually seeing the type of ulceration that is there allows us to prescribe the right length and type of treatment.
